Where in the World is Carmen San Diego?

Do you remeber Carmen San Diego?  I must have been like 5, 6, or 7 the last time I saw the cartoon on T.V or at least I thought she was a cartoon series.  I figured she was in a comic book series, but of all the things I can't really recollect when I was young Carmen Sandiego was one character that i don't remember vividly, as a matter of fact I know nothing till this day about her character and I'm 21.  But I took time to investigate since it just popped into my mind at random.  Carmen Sandiego was created by Gary Carlston in 1983.  Seemed that Carmen Sandiego was a character devised as a software video game character for the use of fun learning and adventurous pretend detective gaming.

"The game script, graphics and humor were created by Gene Portwood and Lauren Elliott, and writer David Siefkin. Siefkin wrote one of the first scripts for the game which ultimately provided the game mechanics and which included treasures stolen from countries around the world, clues taken from the World Almanac, and a villain named Carmen Sandiego, whose name he adapted from the name of 1940s singer & actress Carmen Miranda. Siefkin left the project soon afterwards to become a foreign service officer, serving as a diplomat in several of the countries featured in the game. He is listed in the game manual as a contributing author."(Wikipedia) The first game Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego was released in 1985.  

Now its interesting but Carmen Sandiego was portrayed in these fun filled learning computer games as a villain on the run and you as the investigator have to collect all the clues that would lead you to find her, sounds more fun than trying to find Waldo Lol!!!  "It became a widely popular computer game franchise back then, most of the game subjects were geography and history games are often difficult enough for adults since much of the trivia learned is not widely known. Many entries in the series contain elements of various genres, including mystery, comedy, science fiction, spy-fi and fantasy." (Wikipedia)  In the early nineties a series of books were written the titles are as followed below.  Its great in all that her character was used for fun and educational purposes but I'm sure she would've made a very interesting cartoon series maybe even a movie or two, but hey its fun to imagine.
