A Rookie and a Veteran

You may have heard of the term an officer and a gentleman, well if you've been watching the NBA this year you know that Derrick Rose is a Rookie and a Veteran. I mean he's playing like he's 3 years into the game in my opinion. Lebron James has witnesses but this young point guard is making believers already in just his first year, and especially with his hometown chicago the southwest side native. I was reading the article in this months Slam Magazine and they interviewed his former coach from Memphis and coach Calipari said that "Rose would sometimes break down in tears after losing a game which lit his eyes up and said if this kid wants to win that badly then he's definitely someone I want on my team." Reading on further the article said that he's a very modest and sincere person as well and doesn't necessarily like being in the Limelight thats just him.

A Whole New Season

Where will Amazing happen this year?

Defense is twice intense
Offense is twice as potent
Team play will never relent
Home arenas five times as loud
the 6th man on the floor is the crowd
The superstars take the floor and rise to fame
one who makes the last shot we'll always remember the name
tied with the final 24 seconds is why we love this game
each starving fan of a west team has high hopes and pray
that the west will not go through San Antonio or even L.A.
for a decade the two teams have played for it all from the west
in the past decade each year the east has a new beast
The road to the finals no more goes through MoTown
but now some few hundred miles away in the east
King James has begun to surface as a new world order.

Its a whole new season!

Alright here's my 2009 playoff preview prediction on how the series will go for the rounds

West

1 L.A. Lakers Lakers in 5
8 Utah Jazz

2 Denver Nuggets Denver in 6
7 Dallas Mavericks

3 Houston Rockets Hornets in 5 or 6
6 New Orleans Hornets

4 Portland Trail Blazers I'm a go with Portland in 6 should be a good series
5 San Antonio Spurs

East

1 Cleveland Cavaliers Cavs in 4
8 Detroit Pistons

2 Boston Celtics Celtics in 5
7 Philadelphia 76ers K.G.'s hurt hmm his presence will be enough though although philly should make it a tough series

3 Orlando Magic Magic in 5
6 Chicago Bulls

4 Atlanta Hawks Heat in 6
5 Miami Heat

Oklahoma City Thunder

Oklahoma welcomes the former Seattle SuperSonics and in which I'm
sure most people including the people of Seattle thought that this was the
most ridiculous move and me personally I mean... Thunder? come on
could've at least kept the Super Sonic name at least. but oh well maybe this
will all work out for the better in the future.  But honestly I think they should
give Seattle another team... the people there did not want to see their team leave
and are mad at the owner of the former Sonics/Thunder now.  heck maybe it'll play
out like in the NFL when Old Cleveland browns left Cleveland in "96" and went
to Baltimore to become the Ravens and have one of the toughest Defenses and in "99"
the new cleveland browns were reborn to the city of cleveland hopefully it'll playout
like that and Seattle gets a new SuperSonics team.

But in other news all 13,000 season tickets were sold out  so people in Oklahoma are
high on there new basketball team and thats good for them they had a sample for when
the Hornets were there for a time when Katrina trashed New Orleans.  Now usually
when you and I think of Oklahoma you think of big farms and alot of cattle, and 1 of the
better college football teams in the Oklahoma Sooners and thats it, but their new NBA
team may bring an even bigger market expansion and publicity to then they have right now
which i think is non existant.  So can't wait to see how the team is when the season starts

Flagrant Fouls

Who says basketball isn't a physical game? well in this particular case the NBA has cracked down on alot of instances like this especially since its become a frequent thing now or at least in last year's playoff games, your team is blowing us out scoring easily raping our defense, I'm mad and frustrated I'm hitting someone or taking them out, now I wouldn't necessarily condone this kind of unsportsmanship but seeing some of the teams that i want to win and they're getting blown out I guess i sort of put myself into how they might be feeling and in a sense I'd probably wanna hit somebody on the court or field or whatever.  I guess me personally because I like sports, and I like to win, and I'd like for the teams i want to win, win I guess if i was playing through all that frustration I'd probably would want to hit somebody as well, not saying its the smartest thing to do because if you're a player you get ejected from the game and then your team losses further momentum, but there probably is a therapeutic way for dealing with hard losses as a player, and for a fan of the team.  Just have to hold the frustration in until the game is over or channel it into an effort to player harder, and play better.  But like my friend James says right easier said than done.
